Community
Playback Theatre is community theatre. We create a bridge which makes one person's experience accessible to others. In this way we assist in the development of communities - often in performances the person who rarely speaks will share a story, or the emerging theme of a performance dramatically opens the eyes of the community to what is important to its members at the time.
Communities develop and change can occur. Strengths and weaknesses become apparent without judgment or criticism, allowing individuals and whole groups to look ahead and develop a vision or purpose for themselves.
Playback is uniquely able to be appropriate and responsive to the needs, interests and values of different communities.
